PHASE 2
Welcome to the rest of your life!
This is the part where you continue to apply the good eating habits you've established as part of the hCG protocol. Can you cheat? Sure, but not too often—or you run the risk of regaining the weight you've lost!
You can add sugar, fats (use heart healthy oils like olive and grapeseed) and starch back in but you'll want to eat those in moderation. Many of us don't really know what or how much a person should be eating, so here's a good opportunity to educate yourself on how to eat a healthy diet and take good nutritional care of your body.
The old USDA Food Pyramid that many of us grew up with is not the healthiest approach to eating. The 2010 'MyPlate' campaign gives a good general idea of proportions but we believe you'll find more thorough & useful information in the Healthy Eating Pyramid here: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/pyramid/index.html You may want to browse around their site a little & read some of the other articles. There's some great information there.
In our own experience, the #1 thing you'll want to focus on is making sure you get enough vegetables. Protein is also very important but most of us who eat meat don't have any trouble getting enough protein. Where the Standard American Diet really falls short is in the vegetables and fruits.
If you've detoxed off of sugars or refined carbohydrates and no longer crave them, don't rush to add them back to your diet. If you stick with complex carbohydrates like whole grains and reduce your intake of sweets, you may be surprised at how easy it is to maintain your new, lower weight!
